Biography

I have worked as a substantive Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at Queen’s Hospital, Romford since my appointment in April 2018 and have specialist interests in anal and colorectal cancer, endometriosis, robotic surgery, pelvic floor disorders and surgical education. I am the current Training Program Director for higher surgical trainees in North Central and East London Region. I qualified from Nottingham University in 2006, working in both the UK and Australia before undertaking his higher surgical training in the North East London Region. I was awarded a Masters in Surgical Education with Distinction at Imperial College London in 2013 and attained my Fellowship with the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in England in 2016. My clinical, research and educational interests focus on anal and colorectal cancer, robotic surgery, complex abdominal wall reconstruction, hernia surgery, pelvic floor disorders, endoscopy and endometriosis. I am the lead Colorectal Surgeon for endometriosis and anal cancer at my Trust and am one of three robotic colorectal surgeons on the Davincii Xi system. I am the site lead (Principal Investigator) for several surgical trials in my Trust, currently the radiofrequency ablation in haemorrhoids (ORION) and atrial fibrillation following colorectal resection (AFAR) trials. I have a keen interest in education at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels and act as Educational and Clinical Supervisor for all grades of trainee from FY1 to CT and HST and am the Educational Lead for general surgery in our Trust. I am also the Surgical Tutor for BHRUT, Training Program Director for NCEL and hold an Associate Clinical Professor title with the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. I train senior colorectal registrars in robotic colorectal resection and run robotic training courses on the Davincii Xi system. I am a keen and dedicated colorectal surgeon with a lifelong passion for education and training and intend to be an active member of the ACPBGI.
