Peritoneal Malignancy Subcommittee
Made up of representatives from each centre doing HIPEC (Hyperthermic (or Heated) Intraoperative Peritoneal Chemotherapy)
Committee Members
Currently three units offering a service under NHS England for colorectal cancer peritoneal malignancy – Dublin and Dundee are funded from their Health Boards. Wales do not fund cytoreductive surgery and HIPEC.
The direction from the commissioners for England is to progress to four providers to support the new regional framework of NHS England. Current and new applicants would go through a procurement process. At the moment, the commissioning teams have been disbanded and the CRGs are being reinstated: it had been anticipated that the first workstream for the specialist colorectal CRG once up and running would be to complete the Colorectal cancer peritoneal metastasis procurement.
The funding stream through highly specialised commissioning continues for two centres in England (Basingstoke and Manchester) for pseudomyxoma peritonei surgery.
