Biography
I trained in Merseyside Deanery and entered in the Specialist Register in 2005.
I obtained the Diploma in Laparoscopic Surgery from the University of Strasbourg and European Institute of Telesurgery and also completed short visiting residency training in Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery at the prestigious Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA.
Over the years is pursued a specialist interest in minimally invasive surgery.
I completed the Consultant preceptorship programme in laparoscopic colorectal surgery and the NTP Lapco and I trained in LOREC programme. I was involved in Lapco in North-West since 2012 as Faculty at courses organised at The Christies.
I was appointed at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS FT in 2007 and introduced introduced in the Trust the laparoscopic colorectal surgery and the Transanal Endoscopic Microsurgery. I am one of the trusts two experts in complex polypectomy and EMR. I have a particular interest in rectal cancer.
I 2018 I visited the Department of Colorectal Surgery at Osaka Medical School to observe and learn advanced laparoscopic techniques (CME with CVL) as guest of Prof Junji Okuda.
I am a JAG trainer in colonoscopy and since 2021 I am member of the Colonoscopy Committee of the ACPGBI.
I am Honorary Senior Lecturer with Edge Hill University where I set up a MCh in Colorectal Surgery.
