Biography
A highly dedicated and accomplished surgeon specializing in both general and colorectal surgery, with extensive experience in managing a wide range of surgical conditions. Since graduating in 2011 with a Bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from Cairo University, I have pursued a career defined by continuous learning, diverse practical experience, and a commitment to excellence in patient care.
Following my undergraduate studies, I began my surgical training in 2014 as a General Surgery Resident at Cairo University Hospitals. This foundational experience allowed me to gain hands-on expertise across a variety of subspecialties, including colorectal surgery, upper GI, bariatric, hepatobiliary, breast, complex hernia repair, trauma surgery, and emergency general surgery. In 2016, I earned a Master’s degree in General Surgery.
In 2017, I was appointed as a Teaching Assistant in the General Surgery Department at the Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University. During this time, I combined clinical practice with teaching, mentoring medical students and junior doctors. My academic journey culminated in the completion of a Ph.D. in General Surgery in 2019.
In March 2019, I transitioned to the UK to join Frimley Health NHS Trust, where I became an integral member of the General Surgery team. This role enhanced my experience in managing a wide spectrum of general surgical conditions, including gallbladder surgery, all types of hernia repair (open and laparoscopic), and emergency abdominal surgery.
A significant milestone in my professional development came in 2023, when I successfully achieved the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) in both General Surgery and Colorectal Surgery. This prestigious qualification reflects my dual expertise and dedication to delivering the highest standards of care.
In November 2023, I was appointed as a Senior Colorectal Fellow at University Hospital Southampton (UHS), gaining specialized experience in advanced colorectal procedures, including minimally invasive techniques, complex resections, and multidisciplinary care for colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. This fellowship provided invaluable exposure to high-volume colorectal surgery and refined skills in managing complex surgical cases.
Most recently, in November 2024, I was appointed as a Consultant in Acute and General Surgery at University Hospital Southampton (UHS). In this role, I provide consultant-led care in both elective and emergency settings. My practice encompasses advanced management of gallbladder diseases, complex hernia repairs, abdominal wall reconstruction, trauma surgery, and emergency abdominal conditions, alongside my specialized work in colorectal surgery.
Throughout my career, I have prioritized a patient-centric approach, emphasizing open communication and collaboration with patients, colleagues, and multidisciplinary teams. I am committed to using evidence-based practices and innovative techniques to achieve the best possible outcomes for my patients.
Looking ahead, I remain focused on advancing the fields of general and colorectal surgery, contributing to surgical education, and continually improving patient care. With a passion for excellence and innovation, I am dedicated to making a meaningful impact in my field and improving the lives of those I serve.
