Biography
Qualified from Manchester University, then after house jobs joined the Hope Hospital surgical SHO rotation.
After gaining FRCS in 1996, was appointed to higher surgical training in the North West Deanery, and spent an additional 2 years in full time research.
I gained CCST in 2005, and then did a Fellowship in Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery before taking up a Consultant Colorectal surgeon post in North Wales, where I was also Ho Senior lecturer at Cardiff and Bangor Universities as well as Undergraduate tutor for the Trust.
I moved to Lancashire Teaching Hospitals in 2009, where my current interests include advanced pelvic cancer surgery, laparoscopic approach to: low rectal cancer, pouch reconstruction, and complex rectal endometriosis. I am currently Divisional Medical Director at the Trust, and organiser of the Alpine FRCS course (10 years), Regional SpR teaching programme(5 yrs), and Manchester MRCS course (12 years).
