Biography
Qualified from Manchester University, then after house jobs joined the Hope Hospital surgical SHO rotation.
After gaining FRCS in 1996, was appointed to higher surgical training in the North West Deanery, and spent an additional 2 years in full time research.
I gained CCST in 2005, and then did a Fellowship in Laparoscopic Colorectal Surgery before taking up a Consultant Colorectal surgeon post in North Wales, where I was also Honorary Senior lecturer at Cardiff and Bangor Universities as well as Undergraduate tutor for the Trust.
I moved to Lancashire Teaching Hospitals in 2009, where my subspecialist tertiary interests include complex IBD, pouch reconstruction, and complex rectal endometriosis. I was Divisional Medical Director for all Surgical specialities for 5 years and have served to date 6 years as Deputy Medical Director at the Trust. I anm organiser of the Alpine FRCS course (20 years). I have been awarded National clinical excellence awards and am a National Clinical Impact award holder.
