Setting a research agenda in bowel disease: what matters to patients?
04 March 2015
In 2015, the Bowel Disease Research Foundation funded a study where the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland (ACPGBI) asked its members what they thought were the most important research questions related to bowel disease. An initial list of 500 questions was whittled down during rounds of voting to 15 cancer questions and 10 non-cancer questions. These questions are now being worked up by teams of Champions to take the research agenda in bowel disease forward.
On 26th March 2015, the BDRF is funding and hosting a patient consultation exercise at the Royal College of Surgeons in London for patients and lay representatives to help surgeons and researchers plan and design high quality studies to answer the high priority research questions. The day will be chaired by BDRF Patient-Trustee Azmina Verjee with lunch and refreshments provided and reasonable travel expenses covered.
