The inaugural ACPGBI IBD meeting took place in Newcastle on 18 October. It was refreshing to have a face-to-face meeting, with appropriate precautions in place, as well as the ability for those not present to be able to join the meeting virtually. With close to 200 people registered prior to the meeting, this was testament to the quality of the speakers from the UK and mainland Europe, with a truly multidisciplinary faculty that also included patients and trainees. Positive feedback to date has been very pleasing to see.
Thanks must go to ACPGBI for their support of this event over the past 3 years, with the pandemic meaning the date needed to be changed several times. Thanks also to the session chairs, sponsors and local organising team led superbly by the continued efforts of Newcastle colorectal surgeon, Richard Brady.
Finally, I am very grateful to the outgoing IBD subcommittee members, and wish the new subcommittee well under Professor Tom Pinkney’s leadership.
Justin Davies
Past Chair of the IBD Subcommittee
