Biography
Mr Alex Leo is a Consultant General, Colorectal and Pelvic Floor Surgeon based at The Royal London Hospital (Barts NHS Trust). He has a specialist interest in proctology, pelvic floor disorders, complex abdominal wall hernias and other areas of benign colorectal pathology and has extensive experience in minimally invasive surgery and laparoscopy (key-hole).
Mr Leo has worked as a Specialist Registrar at St Mark’s Hospital and has completed a Fellowship in Pelvic Floor diseases at the Royal London Hospital. Additionally he has achieved an MD at Imperial College of London, discussing a thesis on the diagnosis and treatment of faecal incontinence and continues to obtain a strong research interest in this field. He then worked for 4 years as a Consultant at Northwick Park and St Mark's Hospital before moving to Barts for career advancement.
He has published approximately 50 peer reviewed papers and a text book chapter on colorectal and pelvic floor disorders and has presented on these expertise at national and international meetings.
