Biography
Having studied medicine at Bristol University Mr Glancy undertook his surgical training in the South West Region. For his MD he carried out research into the effects of pre-operative radiotherapy on the colon and rectum, under the supervision of Mr M Thomas at the Bristol Royal Infirmary. He was also awarded an Enid Linder Royal College of Surgeons Research Fellowship. Having gained specialist recognition Mr Glancy undertook further sub-specialty training and was awarded an Ethicon Colorectal Laparoscopic Fellowship under Mr U Khot at Morriston Hospital in Swansea. He then completed a Pelvic Floor Fellowship under Mr P Durdey at the Bristol Royal Infirmary before taking up his current consultant post as a colorectal surgeon with a specialist interest in laparoscopic and pelvic floor surgery.
Mr Glancy's main interests are colorectal cancer, benign colorectal disorders, advanced laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery, pelvic floor disorders (faecal incontinence and obstructed defaecation) and new treatments for haemorrhoids.
Mr Glancy is married with a son and daughter. He enjoys spending time with his family and relaxing by cooking and listening to a wide range of music. He enjoys travel and has recently started competing in sprint triathalons.
