Biography
Claire qualified as a nurse in 1989 from the University of Southampton. Since 1996 she has specialised in colorectal cancer care. She currently works as the Macmillan Nurse Consultant in Colorectal Cancer at St Mark’s Hospital. In 2019 she was awarded an MBE for her services to colorectal cancer nursing
Prior to this she was a Lecturer in Gastrointestinal Nursing at King’s College London for ten years during which time she gained a Post-graduate Certificate of Academic Practice and completed her PhD. Her current interests are cancer survivorship, pelvic radiation disease and also improving patient experience.
She chairs the National Nurses Colorectal cancer Network and is a steering group member of the Consequences of Cancer Treatment Collaborative, the CREW study, Pelvic Cancer Group and EURECCA. She remains a Visiting Lecturer in nursing at King's College, London
