Biography
Mr Jonathan Barker undertook his preclinical training at the University of St. Andrews before moving on to the University of Manchester for his clinical training, graduating in 2002. He undertook his post graduate surgical training in the North West region. He is currently employed as a Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at Blackpool Victoria Hospital a position he has held since 2012
Mr Barker’s clinical practice includes all aspects of colorectal surgery including laparoscopic (keyhole) surgery for rectal and colon cancer. He also has a special interest in inflammatory bowel disease, abdominal wall hernias, early rectal cancer and benign polyps (including TAMIS).
Mr Barker has a keen interest in medical education and is currently the Associate Director for Medical Education at Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
