Biography
Muti Abulafi is a consultant colorectal surgeon at Croydon University Hospital (CUH). He leads the colorectal cancer multi-disciplinary team at CUH and chairs the Colorectal Cancer Pathway Group of the Royal Marsden Partners (RMP) Accountable Cancer Network, a partnership of 10 Trusts in West London. He was a past member of the Clinical Board of the London Cancer Alliance, the London Early Diagnosis Implementation Group and the endoscopy strategy subgroup for London. Muti was director of cancer services at CUH for eight years, until August 2012. He is a past member of the London Zone Cancer Peer Review reference group, the cancer project Expert Reference Panel for Common Cancers and General Care, and the research and audit committee of the ACPGBI.
In addition to his clinical interests, he has a research interest in and has published on colorectal cancer and cancer genetics. He is a founder and co-convener of the annual M25 colorectal Masterclass funded by the Pelican Cancer Foundation, which teaches young trainee surgeons on all aspects of colorectal surgery.
