The laparoscopic approach is now the standard for hemicolectomy, although surgeons may vary in their adopted system and technique to perform these procedures.
This course will teach a structured approach to right and left hemicolectomy by description of individual steps, video
demonstration and discussion followed by cadaveric dissection.
Delegates will be paired to each cadaver and have the opportunity to perform laparoscopic right hemicolectomy in the morning followed by laparoscopic left hemicolectomy in the afternoon.
Right hemicolectomy will include a stapled anastomosis and left hemicolectomy will involve full splenic flexure mobilisation and if time permits, the dissection can be extended to an anterior resection with TME.
