Biography
I was appointed as a Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon in June 2015 in Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals Trust, where my NHS practice is based.
I graduated from Nottingham University Medical School in 1998 and have done the majority of my surgical training in South Yorkshire, after undertaking a period of research in the genetics of colorectal cancer at Sheffield University. As a trainee, I won the National Prize from the Pelvic Floor Society, and won the Travelling Fellows Award from the Royal Society of Medicine, presenting my work on a National and International level.
I became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons on 2012, after passing the final Intercollegiate Examination in General Surgery. I subsequently became the Goligher Colorectal Fellow at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, which consolidated my laparoscopic and specialist colorectal skills.
I hold an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturers post at the University of Sheffield and am Undergraduate Lead for General Surgery within my NHS Trust. I am also a member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland.
I have a specialist interest in colorectal cancer surgery and functional bowel disorders.
